Assurance…..

It was midnight.
Slumber sealed all the souls only the moon and the stars. Breathing whisper of the Earth could only be heard.
Suddenly she felt a cold shiver up her spine. She was trembling helplessly. It was so intense, she could hear her teeth clattering softly. It was creeping slowly into her senses, making her numb. She wound herself in a cocoon and drew in her knees closer. Everything went spinning around and she could no more keep herself composed. Darkness shielded her and she was chilled to the bones. Out of her desperation, she held out her hand for him who was sleeping deep beside her. Even in her numbness she wanted to feel him. She wanted his warmth. She started groping frantically for him. Perhaps her low whining made him alert and conscious. Eventually she could slip her arms around his shoulder and drew him nearer. He then shrouded her in his warmth, his comfort, his affection and understanding. She felt reassured again. She felt his breath. She could smell his light perfume even then. His warmth gradually started enveloping her being and a faint satisfying smile broke in her lips. She realised that he would never leave her, not in her life ever. He would remain her most trusted confidante.
She was reassured of the warmth and comfort of her shawl in a winter midnight.
